Aurora Roundhouse

The Aurora Roundhouse was built in 1856 to expand the railroad into Aurora from Chicago.

Most of the buildings were destroyed in a fire that took place in 1880.

In 1925, a new roundhouse was built to replace the one that got destroyed.

Photographing the Aurora Roundhouse was a surreal experience for me as a photographer. It was the first time I felt the excitement and the need to get the photos no matter what the cost. Walking through the debris and decay, I could almost imagine what the roundhouse was like in its heyday. This series took me to this forgotten place many times to capture what once was.
